JC, Not many building lots available on the island and they're all too expensive now.
Also, this type of construction is designed to withstand hurricane force winds, with the support pilings driven deep into the sand and running up into the walls of the house, moving one would not work like moving a house that sits on a regular foundation.
This house has survived three major hurricans and many lesser storms over 36 years but a sinking beach is the real house killer.
:( Very sad. Would it be possible to move it to safe ground?
I truely cannot imagine what you're going thorough, knowing the final outcome. And really do feel awful for you, and your neighbors there as well.
RC, Beach erosion is a gradual process with each passing storm and over the past few years there have been about a dozen houses taken down on this end of the island, mine is just the next to go.
HilWilRun, yes, the small blue one, my favorite toehold on this world.
Your's is the blue one on this end, I take it?
I'm so sorry.

Sorry about your house fuzz.... It being beach front there was probably little or no insurance.
